HOTTEST JOBS IN 2006

First line The January Hays Quarterly Forecast has been released and it reveals the hottest jobs and boom markets for 2006 in a variety of market sectors.

“The 2006 employment market will be as hot as ever,” said Jacky Carter, Director of Hays. “The job market continues to be resilient and employer hiring intentions suggest the first few months of 2006 will be very active with a variety of strong opportunities available for candidates.”

2006 hotspots are revealed in the Hays Quarterly Forecast. The top-12 candidates in strongest demand across all market sectors are as follows:

  • Accountancy & Finance: Internal and external auditors at all levels, both in the commercial and professional practice sectors.
  • Architecture: Architects with five to seven years experience, both graduate and registered.
  • Banking: Relationship Managers with proven credit and business development experience across consumer and commercial lending.
  • Construction: Construction personnel, with senior project managers, senior site managers, contract administrators and estimators in strongest demand.
  • Engineering: Designers in either civil, mechanical or electrical areas.
  • Facilities Management: Technical facilities managers between $55,000 and $75,000. Compliance and risk is also an increasing level of demand at all levels.
  • Human Resources: HR Generalists who are commercially aware and can operate at a higher strategic level.
  • Insurance: Underwriting, particularly in financial lines.
  • Legal: Lawyers with two to six years experience across all major disciplines, specifically in banking and finance, corporate and construction.
  • Office Support: Quality career receptionists.
  • Property: Sales and leasing candidates and property managers at the $60,000 to $80,000 level.
  • Sales & Marketing: Specialist sales professionals for a variety of industry verticals.
